GeoShift - Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026 · Effective date: October 14, 2026

At TCLabs ("we", "our" or "the company"), we take our users' privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, with whom it is shared, and your rights when you use the GeoShift mobile application. By downloading and using the app, you agree to this policy.

⚡ Summary: GeoShift's core functions work entirely offline. The coordinates you enter and convert, your GPS measurements, drawings and photos are stored only on your device by default; they leave your device only if you link an account or share a Live Layer with people you invite. GeoShift does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

1. Information We Collect

GeoShift processes the following categories of data to perform its functions. Most data never leaves your device; certain data is sent to the cloud only if you choose to link an account.

1.1 Coordinate and Field Data (on-device only)

  • Coordinates you enter/convert, conversion history and saved conversions.
  • GNSS survey points, stakeout projects, track recordings, map drawings, pins and site calibration data.
  • CSV, TXT, NCN, XYZ, NEZ, PNT, KML/KMZ, GPX, GeoJSON, Shapefile, DXF, Excel (XLSX), LandXML and GML files you import, and the PDF, DXF, KML, GPX, GeoJSON, Shapefile, CSV and LandXML outputs you generate.

This data is kept in your device's local storage (SharedPreferences) and is not sent to our servers — it is backed up to the cloud only if you explicitly enable account sync (see Section 4).

1.2 Location Information

When you use the relevant features, your precise (GPS) location is accessed. Location is processed only on your device for measurement, navigation, recording or display and is not transmitted to our servers. (When loading map, elevation (DEM) or parcel data, the coordinates of the viewed area may be sent to the relevant third-party provider — see Section 5.)

1.3 Camera, Microphone and Motion Sensors

  • Camera: to capture geotagged photos/videos with GeoCamera and to use the camera feed as the background in AR stakeout.
  • Microphone: when you record videos with audio using GeoCamera.
  • Motion and orientation sensors: compass (magnetometer) and accelerometer/gyroscope data are processed in real time on-device for the compass and AR navigation.

1.4 Photo Library

To save the photos and videos you capture with GeoCamera, add-only access to your photo library is requested. This permission is used solely to save media; your existing photos are not read.

1.5 Account Information (optional)

If you choose to link an account, depending on the method we process your name, email address, profile photo (Google), the identifier/relay email provided by Apple, and a unique user ID (UID). Linking an account is not required.

1.6 Purchase Information

When you purchase a GeoShift PRO subscription, the transaction is handled through the Apple App Store (StoreKit). Your subscription status (active / plan type) is stored in the app. We do not access or store your payment card details; payment is processed solely by Apple.

1.7 Diagnostics and Usage Data

To improve app quality, usage statistics and crash diagnostics (operating system version, device model, app version, event/screen names) may be collected through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. This data is not linked to your name or email address. If you have not linked an account, it is linked only to a pseudonymous installation identifier; if you have linked an account, it is linked to your account's unique user ID (UID) so we can resolve subscription and support issues. When you delete your account, that ID is deleted too, and diagnostics collected earlier can no longer be connected to any account. This data is not used for advertising or tracking. Coordinate-system searches that return no result are also sent so we can add missing systems; text that looks like an email address or contains long numbers is not sent. To measure whether the coordinate system you chose fits the area of the point you entered, only the point's 6-degree UTM zone number (a band hundreds of kilometres wide) may be sent, never the point itself.

2. How We Use Information

  • To run coordinate conversion, GNSS survey, stakeout, track recording, map/drawing, cut/fill and other tools.
  • To back up your data across devices via optional account sync.
  • To verify and manage PRO subscription status.
  • To share Live Layers with the members you invite (see Section 4.1).
  • To fix bugs, measure performance and improve the app (using the diagnostics data in Section 1.7).
  • To email users who have linked an account about important product updates (e.g. a new release or coordinate systems added for your country). These emails are infrequent, each one includes an unsubscribe link, and users in the European Union receive them only with their explicit consent.

3. Fully Offline Operation

  • 600+ EPSG coordinate systems, 9 NTv2 grid files and the TG-20 geoid model are embedded in the app on your device.
  • Coordinate conversions, epoch propagation and height calculations are performed on-device without an internet connection.
  • Your coordinate data is never sent out for conversion.
  • The internet is used only for map tiles (including the offline regions you download), elevation (DEM) data, parcel queries and, if you use them, account sync and Live Layers.

4. Account, Cloud Sync and Authentication

GeoShift offers optional account features for subscription sync and data backup:

  • Firebase Authentication: Google Firebase Authentication is used for account creation and identity verification. Anonymous sign-in, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, and email/password options are available.
  • Sign in with Apple: Apple's identity credentials, including the option to hide your email (private relay address), are processed via Firebase.
  • Cloud Firestore: When you link your account, your saved conversions, survey/stakeout/track/drawing/pin and imported-layer collections, settings and subscription/profile information (email, display name, provider, creation/last-seen time) are stored in Google Cloud Firestore and used for cross-device synchronization. Very large imported layers marked "This device only" stay on your device.

Linking an account is optional; you can use all core features without it.

4.1 Live Layers (team sharing)

Live Layers let signed-in users share a map layer with people they invite. When you create or join a Live Layer, the following is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is visible to every member of that layer: the layer name; your display name from your Sign in with Apple or Google account; your role (owner, editor or viewer); and the features you add or edit (name, coordinates, elevation and style), together with which account last edited them and when. Your email address is not shown to other members. Invitation codes you create are stored with the layer.

Layer content is used only to provide this feature and is shared only with the members of that layer. Leaving a layer, or being removed by its owner, ends your access; the owner can delete a layer at any time, which removes it for everyone.

5. Third-Party Services

GeoShift may use the following third-party services. In requests to map/DEM/parcel services, your device's IP address and the coordinates of the viewed area are sent to the relevant provider in order to serve the content.

ServicePurpose
Apple Maps (MapKit)Standard, satellite and hybrid map on iOS
OpenStreetMapOpen-source map layers and offline region downloads
Esri ArcGISSatellite imagery map layer
OpenTopoMapTerrain/topographic map layer
MapboxPremium satellite/terrain tiles and elevation (Terrain-RGB DEM) data
TKGMTurkey Land Registry & Cadastre parcel query service
Google FirebaseAuthentication, Firestore sync, Live Layers, Analytics and Crashlytics
Apple (StoreKit / Sign in with Apple)In-app purchases, subscriptions and Sign in with Apple

These services have their own privacy policies.

6. Tracking and Advertising (App Tracking Transparency)

Under App Tracking Transparency (ATT), GeoShift does not track you across other companies' apps and websites. No advertising network, third-party ad SDK or cross-app tracking is used; therefore the app does not present a tracking permission prompt. Any diagnostics/usage data collected is used only to improve the app, is not linked to your name and is never combined with other companies' data; if you have linked an account, it is linked to your account ID as described in Section 1.7.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for marketing. Data is processed only with the relevant providers to operate the services described above. If you create or join a Live Layer, its content and your display name are shared with that layer's members (see Section 4.1). Sharing with authorized authorities may occur where legally required.

8. Data Storage, Transfer and Security

  • All field data is stored locally on your device by default; local data is deleted when you uninstall the app.
  • If you enable account sync, data is stored securely on Google Firebase infrastructure (which may include servers abroad) and transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Only an anonymous counter value is stored in secure storage (Keychain) so that the save counter persists across reinstalls.

9. Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Cloud-synced data is retained until you delete your account. Live Layer content is retained until the layer's owner deletes it. Diagnostics data is retained for a reasonable period in aggregated/summarized form.

10. Deleting Your Account and Data

To permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data, use Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app. This action is irreversible; your Firebase Authentication credentials and your data in Cloud Firestore are permanently deleted. Live Layers you own are deleted for all members and you are removed from the layers you joined; features you added to someone else's layer remain in that layer. You can also delete local data by removing the app from your device. If you need help, contact us at geoshift@tclabs.app.

11. Children's Privacy

GeoShift is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your Rights (KVKK and GDPR)

Under KVKK (Turkish Data Protection Law) and GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Request access to your data
  • Request correction of your data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to and restrict data processing
  • Request data portability

To exercise these rights, you can contact us.

13. Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced through in-app notifications or our website. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most current version.
